Growth may be very slow (7-12 years)

Typically, slowest growing 1° malignancy

DDx: Lymphoma, pseudolymphoma,inflammatory pseudotumor, sarcoid

Commonly have “participating tail” ofatelectasis to pleura

Alveolar Cell CarcinomaDiffuse

May present as multiple discretenodules

May present as area of chronicconsolidation

Resembles pneumonia which does notclear

Alveolar Cell CarcinomaSymptoms

About 50% are asymptomatic

Symptoms include

Cough especially

Sometimes very productive (up to 4 liters aday)

“Bronchorhea”
